Course Description
This course provided information on clinical implementation of an AAC device with a new user. The course addressed best practices for setting AAC goals and how to introduce an AAC device in treatment. Ideas were given for structuring therapy around AAC implementation as well as encouraging the use of AAC at home and in other settings. The course addressed ways to increase success by involving communication partners.
Course Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
- Describe a collaborative model for setting patient-centered AAC goals
- Identify activities for AAC use in treatment and for carryover.
- State the benefits of involving communication partners in AAC training.
Meet the Presenters
Caitlin Mueller, M.S., CCC-SLP
Caitlin holds a B.A. in psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, a B.S. in Communication Studies from Utah State University and an M.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of the Pacific. She is a clinical program manager with Lingraphica, and has a background evaluating and treating clients with a variety of communication impairments using multiple AAC devices and apps.
